VHS 94
In our segment “Empty Wake” for VHS94, we brought a chilling reanimated corpse to life. We designed a full suit that distorted the actor’s body, making it seem like he was missing the top half of his head, which was placed on the floor, curiously looking around and blinking. To add to the eerie effect, we also created a disembodied puppet hand that crawled across the floor, enhancing the unsettling atmosphere of the scene.
Ugly Chickens
In the short film Ugly Chickens, cutting edge creativity and craftsmanship went into designing and building animatronic Dodo puppets that truly captivated audiences. Each puppet was meticulously crafted, with feathers artfully applied and molded to mimic the distinct appearance of these long-extinct birds. We employed intricate cable control mechanisms and refined puppeteering techniques to bring these striking creations to life, ensuring they moved with a startling realism that added depth to the story. The combination of dedication and attention to detail made the Dodos not just characters, but unforgettable focal points of the film.
Dawn of the Dead (2004) Remake
For Dawn of the Dead, I had the exciting opportunity to design and create the animatronics and puppet effects for the film. One of our favorite highlights was the dramatic scene involving Monica and a chainsaw, brought to life through a stunning animatronic puppet. The head and arms are cable controlled, we implemented servos for the facial movements and puppeteered the body with full up/down and forward motion. This effect truly showcased our dedication to creating immersive and memorable experiences.
